In every hallway, classroom, and corner of our school, there’s more than meets the eye. "They're Not Just Students" shines a light on the powerful connections forming every day between students and trusted adults in the Mascoma School District. This video highlights how staff go beyond their roles to be mentors, allies, and advocates—helping students feel seen, heard, and supported.  Through authentic student voices and real stories, we explore how school-based groups and affinity spaces provide safe environments where everyone can be themselves. Whether it's a cultural club, LGBTQ+ alliance, or a mental health support group, students are finding community and confidence. This is a reminder: no one has to go through school alone—and everyone belongs.  At the heart of it all is a simple truth: the Mascoma staff is among the best—committed, compassionate, and always showing up for kids. Because here, students aren’t just students. They’re individuals, and they matter.

Is This Seat Taken? tells the story of a student who feels invisible in a place that’s meant to feel like home. Moving through the school day alone, they struggle with the quiet weight of not fitting in, until one simple question changes everything.

When another student notices and chooses to sit beside them, a small act of kindness becomes the start of an unexpected friendship. Through subtle moments and honest emotion, Is This Seat Taken? explores belonging, empathy, and the power of reaching out.

Sometimes, all it takes is one seat and one person willing to ask.
