As the basketball season comes to a close, Mascoma AV is celebrating a year defined by growth, innovation, and real-world experience both on and off the court.
This season alone, the Mascoma Schools Channel gained 151 new subscribers, pushing us well beyond the 1,000 milestone. A huge achievement that reflects the dedication of our students and the support of our community. Our 5-Year Anniversary broadcast was another major highlight, bringing in 1,350 total views, with more than 500 viewers tuning in live.
We also introduced halftime shows this season, beginning with our anniversary game. These segments gave us the opportunity to showcase student storytelling and production skills in new ways. During our playoff game broadcast, we featured a halftime segment on Poor Shipment, a student-made band, as part of a “Music in Schools” documentary, an exciting step forward in blending live sports coverage with original content.
The playoff game itself marked a technical milestone. With our lead commentator on vacation in Mexico, The MAV students engineered a system that allowed him to call the game live from another time zone. Not only did it work, but we also successfully minimized delay, proving what’s possible with creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork in a live production environment.
Beyond athletics, Mascoma AV students have been deeply involved in community coverage. Within the span of just two weekends, students ran sound and live-stream broadcasts for the school’s deliberative session, followed by the Town of Canaan and the Town of Enfield deliberative sessions. They then continued their work by observing and supporting the Town of Enfield’s “Meet the Candidates” event, which was held in both virtual and in-person formats. These experiences gave students valuable, hands-on exposure to real civic events and professional-level production expectations.
Now, as we transition from the court to the stage, Mascoma AV is proud to support the Drama Club’s production of The Wizard of Oz. Students are running the entire show live, managing projector visuals, sound effects, and lighting with every stop pulled out to deliver a truly top-tier performance.

Thank you to everyone who has tuned in, supported our work, and helped make this season so memorable. From live sports to community events to full-scale productions, Mascoma AV continues to grow and we’re just getting started.
